INTERCLUB
Junior tennis is BUZZING at Mission Bay.
Fantastic coaching resources and a dedicated team of parent volunteers ensure that your kids get the best possible help on court - whether they are new to tennis, intermediate level, or seasoned competitors.
Check out the Junior Calendar for the 2009 / 2010 programme and see what is happening in the Bay.
Teams will be graded for the 2009/2010 season in August - if you wish to play interclub please submit contact Bruce Wickes or Kevin Wright. Entries are due 31st August.
Frequently, parents or the juniors want to know more about what interclub is. Visit Junior Interclub Uncovered for information ideal for those who have not played interclub before and want to understand how it works and whether it is something you may be interested in.
Also published is a player brief which provides more detail on the structure of the Mission Bay Junior Interclub team and how the team operates.
As with all junior sports, there is a high level of parent support. Sometimes this becomes very enthusiastic and can create some issues as parents become involved with the actual match that is on. Auckland Tennis having seen the outcome of junior rugby and other sports when parents get involved, has moved to minimise issues by publishing some guidelines and rules, which are issued to all participating clubs with a request that all clubs issue these to the players and parents. Mission Bay Tennis supports this initiative and is pleased to say that we have seldom experienced any issues. There are 2 documents:
Guidelines for Parents and Supporters
Rules for Chair Umpiring
If you are involved in Junior Interclub, we request that you review both of these documents. They are important.
LADDER COMPETITION
Inspiring competition, increasing game play, and assisting team selection, the junior ladder is now in full swing. Competition is "First to Nine" with Friday Night challenges also contributing to ladder rankings.
